Brummas is a brand name of Carpeta bv. The name Brummas refers directly to the Azores, as in Portugal they are also called the “Ilhas de Bruma” or “Foggy Islands”, this particular type of sea fog that forms when warm, moist air moves over land, causing it to cool down and saturate along the islands coastline and its surrounding mountains. As we wanted a short brand name we choose to make the word Bruma plural to refer to all 9 inhabited islands of the Azores.

To make a very, very long story short, Brummas is the next phase and result of a long time co-operation between two foreigners who fell in love with this magical place, who, as curious as they were, accidentally ended up on the doorstep of these nearby locals on a blue Monday. To ask around about a particular piece of land. With some constructions. On a hill. And an ocean view from far above.

What happened next was an experiment. Where both walked many unpaved paths along the way. Sometimes rocky, sometimes surprisingly easy. But never dull, that is for sure. What remained was a warm friendship that crossed borders. And created opportunities on both ends neither of us deemed possible.

Then occasionally, people started asking around for advise. And honestly, it made us realise our experience was worth sharing. And that was where we decided to take our knowledge ultimately to the next level.
